Today on May 3, World Press Freedom Day, as the Ministry of Justice, we all appreciate and uphold the free press and freedom of speech of journalists and media professionals who actively contribute to the Spring Revolution against the militarys illegal coup attempt.
Up to now, many journalists and media professionals have unjustly been arrested and detained by the military regime, and phone lines and internet lines have been blocked in many areas nationwide. The military regime controls and restricts the freedom of the press so that the people of Myanmar will not receive the right to information.
As journalists, full access to press freedom is a vital pillar of democracy and a watchdog of justice and equality, and the people also have the right of access to information on time.
Therefore, we all hope to access freedom and justice for all and to reach the victory of the revolution altogether. We all wish to be safe for all journalists and media professionals and to release all arrested journalists as soon as possible.
