Meeting with Prosecution Department and Township Law Officers
The Meeting No. (4/2024) with Township Law Officers and Prosecution Department, Ministry of Justice, National Union Government was convened at 9:30 AM Myanmar Time on May 31, 2024.
At the meeting, Daw May Ni, Director-General of the Prosecution Department, U Ko Min, Deputy Director-General, Daw Yellow Rose, Legal Adviser, along with officials, on-ground focal persons, and 17 law officers from 17 townships were present.
Initially, Daw May Ni, the Director-General of the Prosecution Department, delivered an opening statement in which she expressed her sincere support for township law officers to openly raise and discuss the challenges and requirements specific to their respective jurisdictions.
Continuing, Daw Shwe Zin from the Prosecution Department discussed about the outlined plans of the previous meeting No. (3/2024) which comprised the following points: the appointment of clerks for township law offices, submission of Monthly Reports from township law offices for the years 2023 and 2024, provision of copies of legal advisories, and the management of case resolutions.
In accordance with the General Discussion Program, Daw May Ni, Director-General, U Ko Min, Deputy Director-General, and Daw Yellow Rose, Legal Adviser, have responded and extensively deliberated upon the matters raised by law officers, including the land disputes, judicial challenges from Wat Lat and Ka Ni townships, instances of prolonged detention beyond remand, criminal complaints, pleas, and appellate issues.
After the decision and outlined plans emerged from the meeting were adopted, the meeting No. (4/2024) with Township Law Officers and Prosecution Department concluded at 12:17 PM.
