Meeting No. 5/2024: Discussion Meeting between Interim Judicial Affairs Department and Judges on the Ground
Meeting No. 5/2024: The Discussion Meeting between the Interim Judicial Affairs Department, the National Unity Government (NUG), and the Judges on ground was convened at 1:00 PM (Myanmar time) on May 18, 2024.
The Director-General of the Interim Judicial Affairs Department, responsible officials, directors, staff, and relevant township judges from 26 township courts, along with communication officers, attended the meeting.
Initially, U Yan Gyi Aung, Director-General of the Interim Judicial Affairs Department, Ministry of Justice, delivered an opening remark. He stated, “For the coordination of the rule of law and to execute effective judicial activities on the ground, guidelines are being implemented to facilitate judicial proceedings, and arrangements have been made to establish three courts on the ground.”
Furthermore, he extended his special thanks to all the judges who attended the meeting and to the staff of the Interim Judicial Affairs Department in his opening speech.
Subsequently, the on-ground judges raised questions about operational and management difficulties encountered on the ground. U Yan Gyi Aung, Director-General of the Interim Judicial Affairs Department, and U Kyaw Soe, Director of the Criminal and Civil Law Department, responded to inquiries.
According to the discussions in the meeting, the decisions made and outlined plans were approved by the Director-General. Following that, the Director-General stated that he will liaise with other ministries regarding operational difficulties and urged prompt submission of monthly reports to the department on time.
Concluding the meeting, Director-General of the Interim Judicial Affairs Department extended his best wishes to all staff of the Interim Judicial Affairs Department and judges on ground. The meeting adjourned at 11:30 AM Myanmar time.
