Meeting between the Prosecution Department and Township Law Officers
The Meeting No.3/2024 between the Prosecution Department of the Ministry of Justice under the National Unity Government (NUG) and the Township Law Officers was held at 9:30 a.m. Myanmar time on May 10, 2024.
The Director General of the Prosecution Department, the Legal Adviser of the Prosecution Department, the relevant officials, communication officers, and 21 law officers from 19 township law offices all attended the meeting.
Firstly, the Director General of the Prosecution Department, Daw May Ni, delivered an opening speech: “I would like to request to regularly send the monthly reports, the sample copies related to legal advice and the list of complete cases with judicial decisions; To ensure that law officers have responsibility and accountability for the legal proceedings and legal matters; and the difficulties and requirements should be openly presented and discussed in today’s meeting.”
Further, according to the agendas, Daw Shwe Zin from the Prosecution Department discussed and clarified the outlined plans of the previous meeting (2/2024).
Afterward, the Director General of the Prosecution Department, Daw May Ni, and the Legal Adviser of the Prosecution Department, Daw Yellow Rose, answered the questions and challenges raised by Township Law Officers regarding remand cases, non-CDM cases, financial matters, appointment of clerk staff for the township law offices, and the role of law officers.
Following that, the Director General of the Prosecution Department approved the meeting resolutions and outlined plans, delivered a closing remark to be healthy and safe, and thanked all attendees despite the difficulties.
The meeting was successfully concluded at 12:20 p.m. (Myanmar time).
