Today, August 8th, is the 35th anniversary of the 8888 People Power Uprising.
Many individuals are still battling/striving for the unfinished duties and unrealized ambitions of the 8888 uprising. We, too, are standing together with them and shouldering the duties we can. Although we did not experience the 8888 uprising, we did witness the 22222 Uprising firsthand.
Furthermore, history will not be lost, and we can see those who have lived through these challenging times. Successive tyrants will continue to commit unjust acts of terrorism, but if you wait until you are actually experiencing the revolution to join it, it will be too late.
In this Spring Revolution, individuals who joined the cause did not do so with just a presumption that we would win; there is only the strong determination that the Spring Revolution will triumph. The revolution has not yet died away—it is still very much alive.
The imagery and incidents from the 8888 People’s Uprising are still etched in the hearts and minds of the people and have not faded after 35 years.
